For the days out together

A second handle for the hardest part of the day out: getting up.

A folding cane with a lower handle to push on as you rise from the car seat, the café chair or the low sofa. Then walk with it as normal. It folds into the car, so it's there wherever you sit.

A handle to push on, not a lift. Folds away when you don't need it.

Buying for a parent or partner? Keep it folded in the car, ready for the next outing.

Once you're up, you're fine. It's getting up that's hard.

The car door at the doctor's office. The low chair at lunch. The soft sofa at a friend's. The restroom with nothing to hold. Walking is the easy part. Getting up from the seat is where the day gets hard.

And if you're the one who helps someone up, you know the moment: you brace, they grab your hands, and you both hope it goes smoothly. It's no wonder outings start to feel like something to get through.

Days out shouldn't depend on which chair you end up in.

Built from what families told us

Made for the three moments that wear everyone down.

For anyone who finds getting up hard, and for the family who help them up.

The car door

Is getting out of the car the hardest part of every appointment?

The cane folds down and rides along in the car. When you arrive, the lower handle gives you something steady to push on as you rise from the seat.

When a person is the lever

Something to push on that isn't a person.

If getting up means reaching for someone's hands every time, a second handle gives another push point, and gives the helper's back a break.

Low seats after surgery

New knee. Low seats everywhere.

After a knee or hip operation, suddenly every chair and toilet feels too low. A second handle adds another push point during the weeks when getting up feels harder.

How it works

Two handles. One for walking, one for getting up.

A regular cane only helps once you're already standing. The lower handle sits closer to seat height, so there's something to push down on right at the start of standing up.

  1. Place it closeStand the cane right beside the seat, base flat on the floor.
  2. Fold out the lower handleIt swings out to the side, ready to push on.
  3. Two hands, two push pointsOne hand on the lower handle, the other on the chair arm or the main handle.
  4. Lean forward, push, riseThen fold the lower handle away and walk with the main handle.

Adjust the cane to the user's height first, and practise a few times at home before the first day out. Follow the supplied instructions.

The stand-up helper that leaves the house.

Handles bolted under a chair stay in the living room. Car handles stay in the car. This folds into 4 sections and goes wherever you sit.

What it is, and what it isn't.

You'll see a lot of big promises for mobility aids. Here's the plain version.

It is

  • A walking cane
  • An extra push point for standing up from a seat
  • Foldable for the car or a bag
  • A four-foot rubber base
  • A light and alarm in the handle

It isn't

  • A lift. It gives you something to push on; you still do the standing
  • A replacement for a walker, if one has been recommended
  • For getting up off the floor
  • A medical device that treats or prevents anything

To be fair: chair-mounted handles are very stable on the chair they're fitted to. If most of the struggle is one favourite chair at home, one of those may suit better.

Fit guide

Will it fit?

Fits users from
Weight rating

Setting the height: stand up straight with arms relaxed at your sides. The top handle should sit level with the crease of your wrist, so your elbow bends slightly when you hold it.

Then follow the supplied instructions to lock the height before using the lower handle.

    Questions families ask.

How do I use the second handle?

Stand the cane close beside the seat with the base flat. Fold out the lower handle. Put one hand on it and the other on the chair arm or the main handle, lean forward, push down and rise. Then fold the lower handle away and walk with the main handle.

Will it work on a low sofa or car seat?

It adds a push point close to seat height, which is what's missing on most low seats. Very low or very soft seats are still harder to get up from, so practise at home first and see how it feels on the seats you use most.

Can it help with getting up off the floor?

No. It's designed for standing up from a seat, not from the floor.

What height and weight does it fit?

    How small does it fold?

It folds into 4 sections, compact enough to keep in the car or a bag, to about .

Does it stand up on its own?

Yes. The four-foot base lets it stand by itself on a flat floor, so there's no bending down to pick it up.

What are the light and alarm for?

The LED light helps in dark car parks, driveways and hallways. The alarm button makes a loud sound to get the attention of people nearby. Batteries: .

Is it a replacement for a walker?

No. If a walker has been recommended, follow that advice. This is a walking cane with an extra handle for standing up from a seat.
